    Eurozone Industrial Output Stagnates as EU Shows Slight Growth in June 2026

    BRUSSELS, BELGIUM / RankWire.AI / – According to Eurostat, industrial activity within the euro area remained flat in June 2026 compared to May. Meanwhile, production across the European Union increased by 0.2%. These figures were seasonally adjusted and follow a 0.3% monthly growth in both regions during May. When comparing June 2025, the euro area saw a 0.1% rise in output, while the EU experienced a 0.6% increase. The recent data highlighted varied trends across key industrial sectors and member states. This release covers industries excluding construction, utilizing adjusted data for month-to-month comparisons.

    Within the eurozone, non-durable consumer goods led the monthly gains with a 3.0% rise. Energy output grew by 1.5%, and durable consumer goods production edged up 0.3%. Conversely, capital goods output dropped 1.4%, and intermediate goods declined 0.8%. These movements kept the overall industrial production index at 98.7, unchanged from May, based on a 2021 reference point of 100. In May, non-durable consumer goods increased by 3.3%, energy gained 2.6%, and capital goods rose by 0.5%.

    Across the EU, non-durable consumer goods production increased by 2.5% in June, with energy output up 1.0%. Durable consumer goods grew by 0.9%, but capital goods output decreased by 0.9%. Intermediate goods production saw a 0.7% decline from May. The EU industrial production index reached 101.0 in June, up from 100.8 in May. The index was at 99.2 in January and recorded five straight monthly increases through June.

    Member states show significant monthly variations

    Among EU member countries with available data, Denmark experienced the largest increase in June, rising 5.4%. Croatia followed with a 5.2% gain. Lithuania and Finland each grew by 2.1%. Luxembourg recorded the steepest decline at 10.7%, with Portugal at -3.9% and Estonia at -2.2%. Germany increased by 0.2%, France remained steady, Italy declined 1.0%, and Spain decreased 0.7%. Ireland rose 2.0%, the Netherlands fell 1.7%, and Slovenia declined 2.0%.

    On an annual basis, euro-area industrial output was up 0.1% in June. Intermediate goods increased 0.4%, energy gained 0.9%, and capital goods edged up 0.1%. However, durable consumer goods fell 2.5%, and non-durable consumer goods decreased by 0.5%. Across the EU, total production increased 0.6% compared to June 2025. Intermediate goods rose 1.0%, energy output went up 0.3%, and capital goods gained 0.9%, while both consumer goods categories saw declines.

    Lithuania Shows the Highest Annual Industrial Growth

    Lithuania led member states in annual growth figures, with an increase of 7.7%. Denmark followed at 6.1%, and Poland recorded a 4.9% rise. Finland increased by 4.6%, Hungary by 4.1%, and Czechia by 4.0%. Luxembourg experienced the largest annual decline at 7.9%, while Romania fell 5.6% and Estonia declined by 4.6%. Germany and France each saw a 0.5% decrease, Italy fell 0.6%, and Spain increased 1.0% compared with June 2025.

    Eurostat also revised its industrial production estimates for May from the figures published on July 15. The euro-area monthly change was adjusted to a 0.3% increase from a previously reported 0.2% decline. The EU’s monthly figure was revised to a 0.3% gain from an earlier 0.1% fall. The annual May output was also updated to reflect a 0.1% decline in the euro area and a 0.6% increase for the EU. Eurostat compiles these regional figures from seasonally adjusted national data and estimates recent missing observations to produce the aggregate data.
